In their very first season, Belmont’s middle school football team has risen to victory. On a chilly November evening just before Thanksgiving, the boys in the 7 on 7 Middle School Football League, run by the Philadelphia Public League for Athletics, fought hard against their opponents. In front of an enthusiastic crowd, the two teams traded touchdowns as the lead changed hands again and again throughout the game. With only three minutes remaining, the score was 29 – 22, with Belmont trailing. A long pass for a touchdown and a successful two point conversion for a total of 8 points gave Belmont the win with only a few moments remaining. Head Coach Brian Quinn, Assistant Coach and Belmont alum Damon Lively, and Offensive Coordinator Ed McCabe were instrumental in keeping the team focused and motivated, not just throughout the championship game, but for the duration of their admirable first season. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
